Every year I challenge myself to pick a tree (by eye) that is as close to my 8 foot ceiling as I can get it. This year's attempt is within 23mm. Sense of smug satisfaction: priceless. (Apologies for mixing imperial and metric. Child of the 70s. Can't help it)

Job losses in university History depts now at I think Brighton, Chichester, Goldsmiths, Hertfordshire, Huddersfield, Kent, Oxford Brookes, Portsmouth, Roehampton, UEA and more. The whole discipline is being deranged out of all shape or coherence - with no overall plan or strategy.
