Hubby and I just went out for ice cream. As we sat in the shade with our cones, a family drove up and went inside, leaving their car running. They sat inside, eating, with the car still running outside. Some people are so clueless/careless about their impacts on their kids’ future. 🤯🤬🤷😭

I fully agree with this weather forecaster— cuts to many of NOAA’s resources are likely to have a negative impact on the already-tough job of forecasting severe weather, which will likely lead to greater loss of life. Thanks to King Donald. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/08/w...

This is truly a fucked up way to “fish”. Yet trawling is currently the most common industrial fishing technique.
Seriously people. This is no way to live. #Vegan #plant-based
I will forever be haunted by this footage.

Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity.

What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives.

What the hell??? These are kidnappings, plain and simple. Our federal government is kidnapping people.

I can’t believe I’m living in this nightmare.
Earlier this year, ProPublica found that the sepsis rate in second-trimester pregnancy loss hospitalizations increased by more than 50% under Texas’ abortion ban.

Here’s how we did our analysis.
(Published Feb.)
Texas Won’t Study How Its Abortion Ban Impacts Women, So We Did
Since Texas banned abortion, no one has studied the statewide effects on pregnant women experiencing complications. Here’s how we sifted through data on millions of pregnancy hospitalizations and…

What an absolute joke. What is this, April Fools? They’re a few weeks too late for that.
On Earth Day, against a backdrop of federal layoffs, censored research and slashed science budgets, the White House posted: "We Finally Have A President Who Follows Science."

The @nytimes.com fact-checked a (non-exhaustive) selection of the statements on that page:

Fact-Checking the ‘President Who Follows Science’
The White House published a page on its website this month outlining the Trump administration’s key actions on climate and the environment. We annotated some of the claims.

This literally is unconstitutional.
The Justice Department quietly invoked the Alien Enemies Act last month, granting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents the power to conduct warrantless searches of people’s homes based solely on suspicion that they are “alien enemies.”

ICE can enter anyone’s home, and abduct and deport them to a foreign prison indefinitely because the DOJ says they can ignore the 4th, 5th and 15th amendments.

Honey bees are domesticated animals introduced from Europe — and aren't endangered, unlike many of North America's over 3600 species of native bees. Honey bees crowd out native bees from food & spread diseases to them. Instead of adding another hive, plant native flowers!

Want to Save the Bees? Focus on Habitat, Not Honey Bees
Keeping honey bee hives will not help the 3,600 bee species native to North America. In fact, it might do the opposite. The best solution to bee declines is to address underlying causes like habitat l...

Can anyone suggest a good primary care doctor around Charlotte/Concord/Salisbury? I have had two wonderful PCPs in recent years (one left the area and the next retired) after bouncing around among not-so-resourceful ones. Seeking one who will listen, analyze, and provide thoughtful answers!
