Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:

"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."

Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

Finally a public health org is laying out the brutal truth: that every COVID infection increases your risk for permanent organ damage. That doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll experience it months after an infection, but years. Protect yourself & others. Wear a good mask where you can get or spread it.
COVID-19 cases are still high, so be sure to know the facts and avoid the myths in order to protect yourself and others.

The current @govnb.bsky.social said in the legislature in June 2023 that airborne illnesses are a significant problem and that kids and workers deserve clean air in schools. Well it’s two years after those statements and the NB Libs have been in power 10 months. Not a word on IAQ yet. Update us!

It still blows my mind that everyone would rather be sick all the time than mask. I haven’t stopped masking and I don’t intend to. We live in a different world now. Your facade of normalcy is cracked with constant airborne illness.

It is not hard to wear a mask in public for the people you love.

And bonus: it will protect you as well 💜

A recent @jama.com article states Long COVID is the "most common chronic health problem in children," affecting the 10-20% with past infection

They've asked us to accept this as normal

Every Ontario age group I studied showed major reductions in health risks with approved covid vaccinations compared to getting infected. I've also read peer-reviewed studies that found the same for pregnant women. Decisions must be based on consensus scientific evidence, not politics or ideology.
The effects of Covid in pregnancy are devastating and preventable by vaccination; now we have strong data from Penn Medicine that vaccines protect children and adolescents from long Covid
Breaking news: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is ending his agency's recommendation that healthy pregnant women and healthy children receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Covid is not “mild”. It’s not just a cold. infections don’t make you stronger & can cause significant harm

Grateful to anyone with a platform who speaks out about their struggles.

People need to understand repeat infections aren’t inevitable. Masking & clean air works. We just have to do it

So yeah, I’ll keep masking.
Because I trust science more than vibes, and I don’t enjoy being gaslit by institutions who treat mass infection as a policy choice.
Breathing clean air isn’t extreme. Letting a virus win because it’s inconvenient? That is.

Had my first healthcare worker refuse to mask for me.

My chart is documented that I’m immune compromised & require staff to mask. The facility had a policy that if asked, staff will wear.

I was told “no I need to breathe to do my job”.

I stood firm & said I’m high risk and masks are required 🧵
