New work

'Celestial No. 3', 12" x 10", framed with black walnut

Once I started creating these collages from old maps and atlases, I couldn't stop. Then I needed to make six-sided frames for them. Art takes you in unexpected directions, and I love it.

I travelled across Canada last may. It's an incredibly diverse and beautiful landscape. Stopping for daily hikes made it a super memorable experience. Take a walk!

Available work, at Ganaraska Art in Port Hope. 14" square, vintage map collage on panel, black walnut frame.

There's nothing like a canoe trip. Going from 'am I going to make it through this' to 'best thing ever' when you do. Lucky to have done multiple treks through Temagami and Algonquin. Nothing more important than a reliable map to get you through, and a few are included in this collage.

Dreaming of warmer weather & planning spring cycling trips. Cycling gives focus, a sense of freedom and fun with a bit of adventure mixed in. I've gone from mountain biking to road cycling to gravel riding. Fortunate to live in an area with so many options!

Winter sports: Cross Country Skiing

Grew up skiing & still get out in sunny winter weather. X-Country skiing is complicated but you set your own pace and I like to limit climbs and descents. Huge respect for the conditioning & technical skills of everyone competing in the Olympics.

'Explorers' is a series of vintage map collage on panel, with a subject near and dear to my heart. If you've spent time camping, swimming, cycling, skiing or getting outside for fresh air, you'll agree. Hand-built black walnut frames, too!

As an artist, I've had a singular reaction to AI:

Create tangible, handcrafted objects. Paintings, collages, prints, frames - created in a studio without digital distractions. It gives me focus and hope. Make real things and support your artist friends and community.

Feeling lost? I get it.
Working on this continuing set of map collages kept me focused, energetic, and sane over the past few months.

Planetary Series

Collage on birch panel, framed with mahogany, 7.25” square.

Collecting and cutting old map collages grew into an obsession for me over the past few months, in the best possible way. It’s been an unexpected project that sprung out of nowhere, and a joy to work on. More to come!
