Carney's speech at Davos was one big refutation Trump without ever mentioning him. Great references to Havel (Babiš, are you listening?). All democratic powers in the world (EU, Switzerland...) should take it to heart: "when we only negotiate 𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚with a hegemon, we negotiate from weakness"

Everything Trump says here is verifiably untrue. During this period of time the number of US installations on Greenland went from 17 to 1 as a result of US determinations that they were not needed.

This chart matters. Even without the U.S., NATO has far greater Arctic and winter warfare capacity. The idea that Europe and its partners are helpless is a myth. Deterrence works best when it’s based on reality, not bluster or intimidation.
