Old blog post time!

Let's look back at Stahlfeder: Tekkou Hikuudan, a shoot 'em up that's so middle of the road it actually has a bit of a bad reputation for it. Sure, it's not exceptional, but I think it's perfectly fine and a balanced diet is important for all you growing gamers out there:

I’m really not sure why this game garners the hate it does (when it gets any acknowledgement, anyway). I know it’s far from the peak of the genre and it’s certainly not without th…

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

Do you know about the importance of the thumb-travel range for a controller analog stick?

This new concept will change the way we play games with analog sticks. *I'm dead serious.*

It also opens the way for thumbstick emulation for more accurate retro gaming.

And here's something everyone can read on immaculate PlayStation wonder, Jumping Flash:

"I’m bouncing towards pyramids while avoiding seed-spitting plants. I’m surrounded by icicles and butterflies. I’m watching manta rays float by in space."

Jumping Flash: Brave, bouncy, and beautiful
The first thing that leaps out at me when I play Jumping Flash isn’t Robbit, its adorable robot rabbit hero, but the game’s sheer confidence. This is a fast paced and fully 3D game from…

There has been a noticeable reticence in left and liberal circles to voice full-throated support for pornography, even as it's become increasingly clear what the open end goals of the censorship movement are
In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

Reading that TV Tropes is now doing even shadier things with ads/payment is deeply frustrating because sometimes the site's a useful way to get a vibe on specific or obscure information that may not be readily accessible in other contexts just by dint of how long it's been around. (1/5)

I recently got an All Japan Puyo Association bulletin from March 1997, a few months after the release of Sun in arcades. In it the chairman of the association mentions that the latest Japanese national tournament had 20000 entrants.

For reference Evo 2025 had 8541 registered players.
