My wife had a single line in Kung Fu Panda 17 years ago and still gets checks every few months. Most are way smaller than this, but devs get $0 even though the games we work on will likely be sold for 10+ years soooo yeah.

Really baffles me when video games have a lot of non-voiced dialogue but choose not to do *any* SFX to support tone or text scrolling or anything.
Just pure silence / minimal ambience.
I really recommend, especially indie devs, to never undervalue the importance of SFX.

By correctly training staff, giving them time to plan out and loop back to optimise and refactor, you can sell your game to more players AND enjoy praise for a smooth as fuck running game on low specs rather than fielding complaints about judders, popping, slow FPS or massive patch download sizes.

This hasn't been a priority of any AAA studios for a long while and honestly it is you the end user who is footing the bill.
The vast majority of games push your hardware through inefficiency rather than spectacle or quality.
You can do a whole lot more with current pcs then you get.

Went out to a bar for the first time in... a while, just me and @travisnorman.bsky.social. It was nice. There was live music - opener was great, main band group that followed the opener was bad.
Played NMBR9, and drank cranberry mead. A good time was had by all.

Had to search through my discords to see what I posted this year, but this set is probably my favorite. It was a fun vibe sesh, and also a time to learn more about some people. 90% of my gposes are group content anyway.
This one has a little bit of everything, in part why it's my fav of the year.
