Ok, the Hyacinth Bucket scene in Down Cemetary Road is some dark, dark comedy. I don’t think they were anticipating the timing. IYKYK #TVSky

Nov 13 is the day Oscar and Felix moved in together — and the birthday of Garry Marshall (1934–2016), who developed + produced the 1970s TV series based on Neil Simon's play. #BOTD #TVSky #ClassicTV

Texas A&M is limiting how instructors may discuss gender identity and race in classrooms in an assault on academic freedom unseen in America since the Red Scare.

can’t wait to tell my students in the middle of class, “hold on—gotta email the chancellor before I can answer your question“
If you have tenure at Texas A&M and aren't maliciously emailing the president a dozen times every day to ask if you can say this or you can say that, then what's the point in having tenure?
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Texas A&M adopts policy requiring professors to get OK from school president to discuss certain race and gender issues.

Yes! Also, I’ve sadly concluded that in our society women and girls are given implicit labels by men roughly mirroring food labels: sell by, use by, best by, freshest by, expired.
15-year-olds aren’t “barely legal.” There is no such thing as “underage women” they’re fucking CHILDREN.

Note how this is obfuscating: "A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is 'dirty' is not a whole news story."

Guy 1: Notorious sexual offender.
Guy 2: Reporter at a leading national newspaper.
Guy 3: Candidate for president.

its not cynicism, its realism. mainstream journalism sold out the public for access and thousands have died as a result.

Does this precious prick want a job at the car wash?

“As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I’ve seen how American jobs are being given away to those with no right to be here. Pump up the numbers!” Segal’s post concludes.

I want someone to write an unauthorized biography of Larry Summers and title it MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN. He is the most listened to and promoted white guy who is consistently treated like a genius while being wildly wrong about nearly everything who isn't Elon Musk
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

i personally think democrats are better off campaigning against billionaires than trying to cherry pick the "good" billionaires vs the "bad" ones.

cause yes, americans are aspirational to wealth but theyre also very open to populist arguments about the fat cats screwing over the little guy

This is me throughout my career. Men would continually produce shit like this and I, after proofreading and spellcheck and fact checking, would scream to myself wait this is what they expected? This is their definition of smart or good?
thinking about how i get anxious writing emails because i don't want to sound like a moron while larry summers is apparently typing emails like this:

u kno she dint want to talk tomorrow. make me bad pheel.

Thomas Jefferson was 44 when he started in creeping on 14-year-old Sally Hemings. And Sally, who was enslaved, shared a father with Martha Wayles Jefferson—Tom's wife.

He's been dead literally centuries and the US refuses to reckon squarely with what this meant for definitions of American greatness

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

All you have to do is poll a random group of adult women to see how many were abused in childhood to know we've already demonstrated this. Epidemic levels.
We already know conclusively that abusing adult women doesn’t violate our norms. We are well on our way to demonstrating just as conclusively that sexually abusing girls doesn’t violate our norms, either.
Social norms are unwritten rules backed by social sanctions. If child sexual abuse isn’t met with strong, collective consequences, we don’t have a social norm against it.

The Tariff Effect:

“.. consumers could face more price pressures in the coming month ..

“.. businesses still have more costs to pass on to consumers as we estimate consumers are paying most but not all the cost .. Second, tariff rates have likely climbed higher in recent months.”
