It's always futile to criticize the Republicans for doing something the media consistently rewards and reinforces for them. Talarico deserves praise for highlighting it.
Trans athletes are to corporate journalists as shiny keys are to toddlers. Don't like the characterization? Then stop doing it.
James Talarico: No one's ever asked me about the cost of housing. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes.

The only minority destroying this country is the billionaires. Trans people are 1% of the population. We are all focused on the wrong 1%.

Just imagining what the TV coverage of luge would be like if that sport had its very own Chazz Michael Michaels.

Thinking that somebody here got turned down about 100 times asking for Valentine's Day dates.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”

When I was a camp counselor we shot arrows at balloons. Somehow we didn't feel the need to notify Hartsfield-Jackson Airport or shut down the Atlanta airspace.

All this Republican crap about how redistricting means their party's voters "won't be represented" is incredibly revealing. I think it basically shows that they have no intention of representing or helping their own Democratic constituents and no idea that is part of their jobs.

Actually didn't believe this when I first heard it. That's gonna be a tough spin for Leavitt.

Annual governors' gathering with White House unraveling after Trump excludes Democrats
An annual meeting of the nation’s governors that has long served as a rare bipartisan gathering is unraveling after President Donald Trump excluded Democratic governors from White House events. The N...

My contention is that it's perfectly possible to be aggressively uninterested in who wins the Super Bowl and still want to go out with friends to drink beer and eat wings while watching it.

Corporate media journalists dismissing Trump's increasingly demented ramblings and posts as "Trump being Trump" without paying attention to what they show Trump actually being are clearly engaging fully in MAGA's moral degeneracy. Fully engaging in an agenda of evil.

Watching Trump's ranting at the National Prayer Breakfast and wondering why so many "faith leaders" bear false witness by claiming Democrats are the ones causing a backlash against religion.

Just found the #antiquesroadshow feed, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Pro tip: if you get a chance, find out how to volunteer to help when the tour comes to your area. It's like getting tickets on steroids. Long day, but incredibly fun.
(I volunteered for the Savannah stop now showing).

Is beating the corporate media beating a dead horse? Only as it relates to getting them to see what is before their very eyes.

"At a certain point, you have to ask what it would take to not be surprised."

The Media Malpractice That Sent America Tumbling Into Trumpism
Political journalists need to stop pretending they don’t know what Republicans are going to do.

Kind of interesting that there has been so little speculation as to why David Brooks is leaving a cozy sinecure job at the New York Times at this stage in life.

Republicans in a southern state want to eliminate the primary source of school funding. Quelle Surprise.

Just listened to Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Minneapolis." It's got serious Woody Guthrie vibes, I suspect on purpose.

Having somebody like Bruce tell you that you aren't alone is an inestimable boost.

Trump spends months demonizing Somalis and Ilhan Omar in particular. Some brain-damaged MAGA cultist attacks her. Trump says she probably did it to herself.

And our corporate press just straight up reports it out of all that context like it's normal, and this sort of thing just keeps happening.

It's been obvious since the 1960's that the Republicans would be full-on ready to abrogate the 2nd Amendment if someone who disagrees with them exercised it (Reagan/Black Panthers). The only question is whether they'll be stupid enough to disarm some MAGAs and wake that bunch of cultists up.

Wow, a lot of stuff broke loose in the news while our electricity was out.

It's kind of sad not to be able to work up a little hope in this situation without worrying what the fascists are going to do to assuage their tiny egos, but I'm going to do so any way.

Local TV news reporter just now, pointing to icicles on a car:

"If you come outside and see this on your car, it's because it is cold outside right now."

Dude, I know Atlanta doesn't get much winter weather, but we're not morons here. This isn't Florida.
January 25, 2026 at 2:22 PM
Of course there's going to be a huge backlog of things Democrats have to do to fix the atrocities the fascists have wrought, but I'm thinking one of them should be to make it illegal to use weapons that are internationally illegal to use on a battlefield against civilian protesters.

Bush was bad enough with his "Champagne Unit" and "did not accomplish his duties," but the spectacle of a fatass draft-dodger dismissing and disrespecting the blood our allies shed in Afghanistan and Iraq should turn anyone, including MAGAs, against him.
