Tami, 2 a.m. She's yowling into the fan she's started sleeping behind because (we think) she likes the way her voice sounds chopped up. It might irritate some people, but she is a very sweet lady with a lot to say. I put the towel down so it's more comfortable for her.

Okay, hooray for Hilton's decision, although I hold some doubt it was morally based. Whatever, this is nice.

Saddam Hussein announced Iraq would begin accepting Euros for petroleum sales. The west "interceded" and he was soon dead. Qaddafi built up a gold horde to back a currency to rival the USD. Same outcome.

Now we are much closer to the collapse of the petrodollar. Hi Venezuela.

That's practically balloon war territory!
Space’s next frontier is closer than ever.

Engineers are developing satellites that orbit just 60–250 miles above Earth, promising sharper images, faster internet and better weather data (if they can overcome intense atmospheric drag).

The next frontier in space is closer than you think – welcome to the world of very low Earth orbit satellites
The closer to Earth a satellite flies, the clearer a picture it can take of the surface. But low-flying satellites also have to deal with atmospheric drag.
