Intel's statement said that the agreement removes the claw back provisions (which would enforce compliance). Turns a grant tied to performance into a straight equity injection. Details unclear but may no longer require Intel to invest it in specific projects (or even the US).
Someone please explain to me how this issuance doesn’t fail for lack of consideration? There is no new cash associated with these shares. The $8.9 billion was already previously contracted for. Nothing matters. I get it. I guess.

As a Nova Scotian, we find this behavior odd... In Halifax, if you cross the street in the middle of the block, the cars will politely stop until you pass.
True story: One day, while I was posted in Ottawa for the Foreign Service, I was waiting at a crosswalk near Parliament Hill. I looked right, I looked left, no cars, out I went into the road against the light. From behind me I hear a group of school kids yelling 'Jaywalker! Jaywalker!'
I wandered Calgary for an hour and a half today and something felt off.
It was only when I crossed against the light that I realized: No one here jaywalks. No one.
I know nice polite canadians is a whole cliched thing but still, holy crud.

Once you've turned the White House into a Tesla dealer, putting up 100 ft. flag poles is the logical next step. I'm waiting for the blow-up guys to appear.

This is the only point. The analogy was explaining that the Administration's fake reciprocal tariffs were based on the bilateral trade in goods and not overall trade (or services) or capital flows. It is exactly analogous with the grocery store example.
10. BTW, the grocery store analogy *might* be useful when it comes to bilateral trade deficits or surpluses (one country with another), but less so when it comes to net trade deficits or surpluses (one country with the rest of the world).

I had forgotten about this detail. Assuming the 25% is correct, then the $33B purchase is $20B of xAI itself and Twitter at a $13B valuation. It also means the combined equity value is $93B (as they state it).
One thing I am not clear on is previous reporting that Elon had given a 25% stake in xAI to early X investors. That would change some of the math above.

That doesn't appear correct. There has been some equity value vs enterprises value confusion. Your $1 Twitter investment is now "$1" of xAI+X (with a combined equity value of $113B). So, the $7B total minority investment went from ~22% of X to ~6% of new entity. Actual value may vary.

Maybe they need something like, "The land for Arlington was donated by former Superintendent of West Point, Robert Lee..."
...topics such as the Civil War..."???
It literally became a national cemetery *because of the Civil War.
We're not a serious country. Or, more accurately, this isn't a serious government

Arlington National Cemetery has scrubbed information about prominent Black, Hispanic and female service members and topics such as the Civil War from its website, part of an effort across the Defense Department to remove all references to diversity, equity and inclusion from its online presence.
