Introduction time!

I'm Bronwyn, newly joined from Twitter.
I post mostly about my cats, gardening, whatever craft I'm currently obsessed with, aro ace stuff, and NZ politics.

Also interested in gaming, books, art, and cooking.
I saw bitter melon at the supermarket today and because I'd never tried it and it looked interesting I decided to buy and cook it

I will not be trying it again.

WOW 🤯

The number of times a State of Emergency has been declared this year in New Zealand ALREADY matches the 2025 total.

It’s February.

This is what the Climate Crisis looks like.

Finally taking action to fix my insanely tight neck/shoulders which have been getting progressively worse over the last months causing constant pain and headaches

I've a massage booked in for Sat morning and I'm really looking forward to it

Lol rotisserie chicken was a common meal for us when I was young and poor. A cheap and easy meal when you didn't have time to cook, it fed the whole family for days

this was done intentionally - multiple ministers including Willis & Seymour bragged about how many jobs they’d cut in the first 12 months of their government. the reserve bank literally said it wanted unemployment up to control inflation. as with so many other policies this term, it’s social murder
Nothing says we've tuned a corner like unemployment being the worst since 2017. 🙄

Unemployment rate highest in a decade as it rises to 5.4% www.rnz.co.nz/news/busines...

Worse than expected, the unemployment rate rose to its highest level since 2015.

🌱🇳🇿I'm having problems growing courgette and the Internet isn't giving me answers

I have only female flowers 🌻

It seems people usually have the opposite problem and the advice is to wait and it'll sort itself out

I've been waiting. It's been months. It has not sorted itself out

What's wrong??

This should be headline news across every outlet in the country. This deal happening in secret - let alone directly involving us in a fascist war machine - should be criminal, fuck.
Breaking: the Government is negotiating with the US to provide access to our critical minerals, while a memo before the Waitangi Tribunal says a backdoor deal violates obligations to Māori

How do I complain about a dumb traffic light recently added that has completely fucked up traffic?

I did it. After putting it off for weeks I finally installed satisfactory. I've only played through the tutorial but it already consumes my every waking thoughts

Yup, it was me. Haven't done anything on it since covid, but as of 2019 it highly conclusively had nothing to do with the economy.
bsky.app/profile/thou...
That was probably me- I did a bunch of analysis in 2019 that business confidence for NZ was least correlated to their economy in all the world, matched party in power & PM gender and length of office, and we would all be better just looking at other countries confidence.

Every year work cancels our milk order over Christmas, and every year they fail to get it delivered again in the new year

We are an office of engineers who need our coffee! Surprised no one's rioting

I only realized these words were pronounced the same recently when I had to read it aloud, at the age of 36...
I was a fully-grown adult before I realised these were the same word, and the former still reads instantly as “gay-ole” inside my head…

I blame the prevalence of cowboy shows on 70s UK TV…
on a much lower key, this is why I support the use of the word gaol over jail, if not either actual venue.

Re-sharing for the new year, which is also an election year! If you agree, help us out by emailing your local MP asking why Labour and National have not yet signed this letter or committed to regulating AI deployment in NZ. #nzpol
We’ve published an Open Letter calling on NZ leaders to deliver risk-based AI regulation & a national oversight body. AI has huge potential, but harms (deepfakes, gendered abuse, bias) are real and rising. Read the Letter (and sign it if you agree!) #nzpol

Let's talk about generative AI, contaminated information, and rhubarb.

Once upon a time, Europe was at war.

Food was scarce, and the government of the quote-unquote United Kingdom looked for alternatives. 1/

Why does every application I open have to waste time loading a pop up first asking if I want to use ai mode??

NO. I DO NOT WANT AI MODE. STOP ASKING ME. PLEASE GO AWAY FOREVER
