This is one of the hardest walls hit by the medical students in my biostatistics & applied machine learning : the vocabulary behind and meaning of most statistical and probability terms does not satisfy how we reason as humans.
Oh really?

"The building blocks of our scientific and everyday knowledge are elementary facts such as 'mud does not cause rain' and 'symptoms do not cause disease' and those facts, strangely enough, cannot be expressed in the vocabulary of probability calculus." ftp.cs.ucla.edu/pub/stat_ser...
It just gets a lot easier to explain when you start by pointing out that the frequentist interpretation of probability is at odds with how we use probabilities in everyday life.

Network analysis is reshaping mental health research by moving beyond traditional models. It uncovers complex links between psychological variables, offering new insights into mental disorders. A promising step toward more effective understanding and treatment. #MentalHealth #Psychology

Unbelievable.

Where was this paper when I tried to write my thesis?!

Oh, right, still in the making.

Well, anyhow, this looks fantastic and the paper is open access. I hope it gets the attention it deserves.

Check out this interesting interview from Prof. McNally (Harvard). Rich was my postdoc supervisor, and now I have the chance to collaborate with him on newer studies as well !
Had a great time last week with a visit from prof Richard McNally of Harvard! Together with colleagues at department of psychology, University of Oslo we arranged a public lecture and a research seminar. And Richard was interviewed, but only in Norwegian psykologtidsskriftet.no/intervju/202...
Tegner evidensbasert fremtid for PTSD-behandling
Vi vet noen behandlinger funker for mange med PTSD. Nå må forskere finne ut hvorfor de ikke funker for andre pasienter, sier Richard McNally, Harvard-professor på norgesbesøk.
