Even in this place, I feel the sheer scale of foreign aid being demolished isn't fully appreciated. As it stands, it is perhaps *the* most catastrophic change to preventable deaths in our lifetimes, and the salience - even in presumably friendly spaces - is basically zero

It's crazy that we've spent more time this year talking about the *former* president's health than the current one's, given the numerous warning signs and unanswered questions that are accumulating.
Washington's speculation about Trump's health is at a fever pitch. We've seen multiple reasons this summer to ask questions — and the media doesn't seem to care. What's really going on? www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/it-s-time-...

Probably not a good idea to ask ChatGPT for health advice.
After asking ChatGPT what to eat instead of salt, a man slowly poisoned himself over course of 3 months and gave himself a psychiatric illness that was common in the 19th century, according to a new medical case study:

That's exactly it. It's the gap between what we're all seeing and what many govts are even *admitting* that's so disturbing. Recently watched Vietnam doc on Netflix and it spoke about how that war "broke" trust in govt all the way to today. This seems like an acceleration of the same process.

Our Monday documentary spaces have been absolutely fantastic when it comes to recognizing institutional corruption. From Turning Point: The Cold War, Turning Point: Vietnam, and now The Octopus Murders (all available on Netflix), we're watching different chapters of the same book. Fascinating stuff.

I've been saying to friends for a few months that the more I study authoritarianism in other countries, the more concerned I become that the CBS story is the sleeping giant here. The process has been a simmer (people inside the network have spoken out in real-time) but don't mistake slow for safe.
