For example, PostgreSQL vs Ingres, C versus B which came from BCPL standing for Bootstrapped Cambridge Programming Language.

In blackjack, I just have to focus on myself and the end goal. For poker, I have to know the end goal, and know other people (and their skill set) as well.

The only issue? While it was developed for 10 years already by very experienced devs, it was the biggest piece of hot garbage I've ever seen.

It might just be the culture of the folks I work with, or just the general lack of funding, but it seems like hardly anyone I work with gives a damn about writing proper unit/regression tests, allowing bugs to constantly resurface.

I'm mainly focused on desktop and embedded applications, using C/C++, Python, Go, and command line scripting. I'm gaining familiarity with Rust and C#, and have some very basics of HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
