@governorwalz.mn.gov Too bad you don't care about our unsheltered neighbors who are trying to survive outdoors until they become housed. All they get offered is dangerous congregate shelters. bsky.app/profile/gove...
We are monitoring the situation in St. Paul and working to understand what unfolded. We received no heads up from federal authorities on this operation.

While we are always willing to work together on public safety, that is clearly not what this chaotic situation was about.

@angry-grandma612.bsky.social 2 questions. 1. Will it be enough to even fill the demand? 2. One of the reasons there's encampments is because people want their own private space. Are any of the beds in single, private rooms for a single person or couple? I doubt it.

GOOD NEWS: @ramirez.house.gov will be working with @sanders.senate.gov to introduce the Pensions for All Act.

The bill requires corporations to provide traditional pension plans for their workers or pay into the federal retirement system to ensure all workers receive retirement benefits.

@governorwalz.mn.gov Some places in our state have used hotel rooms as temporary shelter until people are housed. In Hennepin, we ALREADY have unsheltered people staying outdoors due to bad & overcrowded conditions, let's get EVERYONE off the streets NOW. bsky.app/profile/gove...
At least 4,900 Minnesotans are at risk of being pushed to the streets because of Trump’s cuts to housing - children, seniors, veterans.

In Minnesota, we’ll do everything we can to stand up for our neighbors in need, but this decision will be devastating.

'A drastic cut': New HUD rules affect 1,600 beds for homeless in Northeastern Minnesota
Last week, the Trump administration said only 30% of the national Continuum of Care program’s $3.9 billion can be used for permanent housing, down from approximately 90% this year.

Sadly, homelessness is largely ignored by a lot of independent news outlets, & largely left to legacy newspapers in large metros & local TV news in those same places, along with the occasional network TV or cable news outlet report on the issue, so it's no real surprise. bsky.app/profile/more...
The Trump admin is about to cut housing grants for the formerly homeless.

HUD plans to cut aid for permanent housing by 66%, slashing over $2 billion and leaving 170,000 people at risk of homelessness again.

Everyone who would be affected is disabled, and many are 50 or older.

We're already there. The basic difference between what he wants to do and what's already happening is that he's accelerating & exacerbating the issue. More people are paying attention to WHAT HE'S DOING, but not what's already BEEN happening before. bsky.app/profile/jess...
He wants to push us back to the 1930s, and then trap us there, by preventing us from electing another FDR.
This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.
