it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Apologies that the update on all this with Bast ended up being the worst outcome. Its not what I wanted & I tried.
Screenshots of a blog post titled “Concerning Bast”. The start of the blog post shows a photo depicting a hospitalized black cat in the day before her health decline, covered with blankets and wearing an e-collar. She is asleep, and there is a hand reaching out towards her to pet her. The rest of the blog post is text, which reads: …I guess I should be posting updates here. But, I should give an update first & foremost concerning recent attempts to raise funds for Bast: Sadly, she has passed away. DKA took her life—as I mentioned we had zero awareness of her being diabetic, given she was a cat from the streets we took in (as with our other cats), & even after her pyometra surgery & other checkups I guess it never was picked up on. Continuation of the blog post, with text that reads: Her blood sugar had gotten to such a severe degree that it wasn’t even registering, & even with administering insulin to her in the clinics & other treatments it was in the 800’s (once it finally registered), yet barely going any lower. To my understanding, it also damaged her liver as she developed jaundice & started declining more & more, which I did bear some witness to & despite her stabilizing this morning she just… abruptly fell into cardiac arrest. She was given medication & emergency CPR to try to save her, but. They weren’t able to save her, she passed on at around 1:20 pm. Unfortunately I still will be having to repay all the medical debts from this too, & with the additional hospital stay + CPR it spiked costs even further. I do deeply appreciate those who have donated—I do mean that I hate having to ask like this. It’s admittedly why I’ve tried pushing myself into overtime at work (despite the abysmally toxic environment) even though its been affecting my health too with how much I’ve pushed myself—because trying to repay this while also trying to accrue enough to leave where I’m at for many negative reasons. But its been. Difficult considering I live with chronic conditions/disability & all that.

Per recent news, Bast had gone through diabetic ketoacidosis, due to her condition having been unknown until now. The med debt has skyrocketed again, not only for care but also for future insulin costs
