More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

That alone makes him a powerful senator.

As a non lawyer I’m trying to square the Chevron decision with their opinion today where it states

"On the contrary, as this Court has stressed, courts should and 'must defer to 'the informed discretion of the responsible federal agencies.'"

Huh???

"White House officials point to an NSC structure that's filled with committees and meetings that they say slow down decision-making and produce lots of jargon and acronyms."

They are completely clueless what the NSC does, and apparently they can't be bothered to learn what the acronyms mean.

Trump's White House sees the NSC as notoriously bureaucratic and filled with longtime officials who don't share the president's vision.

The White House just dropped an executive order significantly shaking up operations at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the government’s nuclear safety regulator widely regarded as the “gold standard” for global nuclear power safety operations.

I used to cover NRC closely. Here are some notes🧵

Hi, I'm the guy who used to oversee the federal government's agency IT telecommunications contracts. This is extremely bad. There is absolutely no need for this. Not only is it a huge security exposure, but the simplest explanation for this is that it is meant to be a security exposure.

They estimate this operation has cost the U.S. over $16M which is low because it doesn't count the photo op flights in and out by Kristi Noem and Pete Hegseth. They built 1600 tents that ICE can't use because they are inhumane.

March 14, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Oh we are sufficiently pissed off. Pissed off enough to primary Durbin. Pissed off enough to protest Peters office weekly asking him to leave early. I’m sure he has a nice corporate gig awaiting him so he should just go now so we can have new blood that can read a damn room. What’s your excuse???
March 14, 2025 at 9:49 PM
She needs constant demonstrations outside her offices so she leaves early. That’s what we need to do here at Gary Peters’ office so he retires early for whatever corporate gig awaits him.

No backbone from Senate Dems. Should have demanded a clean CR instead of giving cover. If they’re going to dismantle things, let them do it without one D vote. Y’all don’t seem to understand the times we’re in or you & Shaheen want a cushy corporate gig when you retire. Need new blood-please go now
