As someone who was scared even to _say_ the word "GamerGate" online when it was at its height precisely _because_ I am a woman in tech (and who is grateful to those who did speak up), I second what @amandamarcotte.bsky.social says here.
There was a lot of anger aimed at Rep. McBride for not being more aggressive in fighting back against Nancy Mace and Mike Johnson.
But this incident is a reminder that what we really need to do is refocus on asking more of those of us with more privilege.
