have you tried the mitsubishi hi-unis? I find they're the closest to BWs. not always easy to get tho, but sometimes you can get boxes cheaper than bw's

Most people say Hi-Uni B is the closest, but I think the 2B is better, especially for drawing. Both are pretty close but not quiiiiite right. the 2B feels slightly more slippery on the paper than the 602. Palomino really made something special with the 602...

Another punch-up of an incidental character for @stevecmartin.bsky.social comic commission he is working on.
Sometimes he can't just "get' that pose/look, so I put a 12 field animation paper on top, on a lightbox, and try to fix; No Palominos 602s, tried a Staedtler 2B pencil, baaad move/not happy.
