This is true, and partly why people get confused marginalised folks may find stereotypical white male villains appealing. The rest of us aren't freely allowed (whether by Hollywood, by society at large, by our own people, or by our own selves) access to the same type of conflicted human emotions.
Some discourse running around about "humanization of monsters" but one thing I'd like to add is that I feel there's a certain lack of diversity when it comes to who gets to be a sympathetic, misunderstood, redeemable monster.

On the supporting actor point: Sam is my ride or die, but this season I really think it needs to be Assad. His range and presence was just phenomenal, and he might not have such prominence in a season for a while whereas Sam is going to be front and center. I want him to get his laurels!
