In no other context would anyone say that the response to an intentional and highly organized operation that its leaders are openly celebrating in public as a success be that the henchmen executing (literally and figuratively) their orders be given more money for "training."

Breaking NYT:

The Pentagon used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first boat attack, according to officials briefed on the matter.

The laws of armed conflict forbid combatants from feigning civilian status.

That is a war crime called "perfidy."

These “gen ai is the answer to problems” proponents be dishonest about the fact artists need funding. They refuse to solve real problems; they invent them. e.g. an indie filmmaker doesn’t need gen ai. Especially one with actual skills + respects their craft enough to learn it. They need funding.

The postal service is not a business, measuring it by revenue is the wrong frame for understanding its worth.
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

I‘ve been dying on the hill for years that recipe search was the canary in the coal mine for everything that’s gone to shit about search ever since. But instead of taking it seriously as a structural failure, the discourse got stuck on “women be talking too much on their silly blogs.”

Another thing LRP tangentially reminded me of: how ppl will say visually-driven social media pages are “fake” or “superficial” or “curated” as a pejorative if there’s any focus tied to themes or aesthetics. As if “realism” is only expressed through sloppiness, chaos or resentment for visual skills.
