my mental health improved dramatically when i realized how much queer discourse on social media was actually just panicked 15 year olds who just discovered they wanna kiss the wrong kid in class
you wouldn't waste your life arguing with that kid in real space, so why would you do it on the internet

90% of the worst queer discourse is driven by people either in the closet or otherwise terrified about what committing to their authentic selves means for their lives, and while we should be patient and loving to these folks we need to stop taking them seriously

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.
