Heads up #yycBike, looks like temporary berms have closed off this section of pathway. Not indicated on pathway map officially.

I’m guessing it’s to protect Parkdale Blvd from flooding if the water main breaks.

Just use Waze.

I thought I'd try the new 32nd Avenue NE pathway this morning. Unfortunately, it's not being cleared yet, and with its open exposure to the north still had some drifts covering it. Nice pathway though, and a good investment in the NE active mobility infrastructure desert. #yycbike

Canadian city populations (CMA) for 2025 are out. Big growth over the past 4 years.

Toronto over 7 million.
Vancouver over 3 million.
Calgary nearing 2 million.
Winnipeg so close to 1 million!
Halifax over half million.
Victoria almost half million.
Saskatoon pulling away from Regina.

#yycbike commute report. WARNING: warm weather has brought out the bike ninjas - those people who insist on travelling dark pathways with no lights. They may be upon you with little advanced warning, but their positions are sometimes given away by a snowy backdrop. Be vigilant out there!

The adventure continues in this section. This morning the fenced off area was open with ramps to get onto the construction mats. However those wooden mats have some big gaps along them, enough to swallow up a narrower tire. Use caution. #yycbike
Uh, St Patrick’s chaos… still no info on the closure site, but sure hope this is just for the month, because it certainly looks like it’s going to become a lay down yard for something. Barely passable for bikes, particularly around the bathrooms. Watch out for usual construction stupidity #yycbike

Took the detour this morning to check it out. Not a fan at all of the area in the second picture. Not a single inch of pathway was left to get by the fencing to the detour path. Into the snow you go. Just another "F you" from the city to those of us that choose to get around not in a car. #yycbike

City update is really missing the really needed opportunity of saying, look if you use more than X m3 water per person you really need to address your households water consumption because that is way too much not just now during this emergency but also as we move into this new normal.
Thompson says even when the Bearspaw feeder main is back up and running, the city will have to run the pipe at lower pressures with less water, which is why conservation efforts will need to continue.
