Wat’ya… We’ve got a healthy population of dingos on the farm, and I couldn’t be happier. They’re filling a keystone position in the ecosystem, which is manifesting itself in very helpfully keeping the fox population low. No sign of them worrying our chickens, pigs or cattle.

I just told Instagram (accurately) that this thing runs like a haunted shithouse and sounds like a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin.

I bloody love a good saying - what’s your favourite?

“Precision Fermentation” - we’re going to save the world by putting food production in the hands of capitalists and technocrats. What a brilliant idea, I can’t foresee any problems at all.
Farming is a tough job & it's only getting tougher as our climate changes.

But what if there was a better way to feed 10 billion people, one that didn't involve hardship, slaughtering animals or wrecking the environment?

There is, as @georgemonbiot.bsky.social explains.

Nothing makes me feel more accomplished as a farmer than moving all four flocks of chickens on time.

Goddamn it, it’s so annoying when Monbiot is completely right.
1. We cannot now rule out the possibility of systemic collapse in the United States. If Trump and Musk paralyse the federal government, this could trigger social, financial and industrial failures. Neither Trump nor his team know how to respond to such failures, which could snowball and converge. 🧵

Anyone on here training working dogs? (I’m not but like to pretend I could)

Hey so I’m not an accelerationist but have my fellow Australian lefties looked around and checked out who owns all the guns here?

Ps - I reckon this report is a non-event that basically shows our gun control laws are working.
All Australian states and territories are failing to meet key criteria for effective gun control, including data transparency and limits on the number of firearms a person can own.

The brain genius who designed this should be asked if he’s prepared to carry his tin of deadly waste in his pocket (and his children’s children’s children’s pockets) for the next ~500,000 years.

Factory farming to “feed the world” is looking pretty dusty at present.
The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

Egg prices are soaring again. Here’s why and what to expect
Bird flu has killed millions of hens in recent weeks, shrinking the supply of eggs and hiking up prices at grocery stores.

Another flock of 500 hens hit the pasture today. Hearing a lot of noise on the small-scale farm internet about “minimum viable scale”… Does anyone think they’ve hit that yet?
