We are the Australian Chapter of WePlanet.
Citizens movement working to liberate nature & elevate Humanity.
As environmentalists, it’s understandable if we feel intense disappointment and perhaps anger at the decision to keep Eraring operating until 2029.

But if we want to see the deep decarbonisation needed to address climate change, then it's time to face hard truths about our energy transition.

Bad Idea #35: ‘THIS is the Future’

@marklynas.bsky.social is joined by David Wallace-Wells, New York Times columnist and author of The Uninhabitable Earth, to tackle a deceptively simple bad idea: the belief that we can predict the future with confidence.

Climate Minister @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social is all mixed up.

He's got dirty fossil gas in the 'ins' column and ultra-clean nuclear energy in the 'outs' 'column'.

Sign our petition asking him to fix that:

Wind & solar have done a great job in reducing emissions over the short term. Adding nuclear energy won't stop that progress, it will add to it.

Clean energy expert Julia Pyke shares how nuclear energy helps reduce costs to consumers despite its high upfront project costs.

We're back for 2026!

The awful attack at Bondi Beach and events around the world weren't the end of the year many of us were expecting.
We continue to hold hope that 2026 will bring more peace and prosperity for everyone, and are more committed than ever to working towards our goals.

Wind, solar, and hydro generated more electricity than coal across the East Coast electricity grid, also known as the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Overall these sources produced a combined generation of 48.4% of electricity across the NEM for the month of September.

Our Landscapes Are Being Sacrificed in the Name of Climate Action. It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way.

A new national mapping project released by Rainforest Reserves Australia shows the true scale of Australia's current roll-out of wind and solar projects.
Our Landscapes Are Being Sacrificed in the Name of Climate Action. It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way.
Right now across Australia, vast tracts of land are being cleared. What’s driving it isn’t only coal or gas. It’s also our attempt to replace them. We must do better.

Veteran financial journalist Alan Kohler captures the reality: if Australia is serious about growing the economy, protecting our standard of living, and tackling the climate crisis, the Albanese government must put dogma and politics aside and finally accept nuclear energy as part of the solution.

Fear of modern plant gene science, such as "GMO”, has long held us back from growing more sustainable crops that need fewer pesticides and fungicides.

Now that same fear risks blocking an effective tool for controlling invasive fire ants, which threaten both people and ecosystems.

Nuclear energy is clean, reliable and affordable.

That's what we learned first hand while visiting the Olkilouto nuclear power station in Western Finland.

It's time for Australia to lift the ban on nuclear energy: act.weplanet.org/overturn-aus...

Olkilouto could power roughly 5 million Aussie homes each day - emissions free.

The first 2 reactors began operating in 1979 & 1982. For over 40 years they've been providing clean energy. Planned to operate until 2038, with plans to extend that further.

Nuclear offers decades of clean energy.

Next week some of us will visit the Olkilouto Nuclear Power station in Finland.

We plan to film some content highlighting how nuclear energy is an important solution for climate change.

🛑 Animal agriculture is the biggest driver of deforestation in Australia & our largest source of agricultural emissions.

>50% of land & 70% of agricultural emissions come from animal ag.

Good news is that there is now a cleaner, healthier alternative available, and more options are on the way.
