Wind, solar, and hydro generated more electricity than coal across the East Coast electricity grid, also known as the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Overall these sources produced a combined generation of 48.4% of electricity across the NEM for the month of September.

Veteran financial journalist Alan Kohler captures the reality: if Australia is serious about growing the economy, protecting our standard of living, and tackling the climate crisis, the Albanese government must put dogma and politics aside and finally accept nuclear energy as part of the solution.

Fear of modern plant gene science, such as "GMO”, has long held us back from growing more sustainable crops that need fewer pesticides and fungicides.

Now that same fear risks blocking an effective tool for controlling invasive fire ants, which threaten both people and ecosystems.

Nuclear energy is clean, reliable and affordable.

That's what we learned first hand while visiting the Olkilouto nuclear power station in Western Finland.

We're glad you asked, it's the lowest of all energy sources.

Olkilouto could power roughly 5 million Aussie homes each day - emissions free.

The first 2 reactors began operating in 1979 & 1982. For over 40 years they've been providing clean energy. Planned to operate until 2038, with plans to extend that further.

Nuclear offers decades of clean energy.

Next week some of us will visit the Olkilouto Nuclear Power station in Finland.

We plan to film some content highlighting how nuclear energy is an important solution for climate change.

What topics or questions would you like us to cover?

🛑 Animal agriculture is the biggest driver of deforestation in Australia & our largest source of agricultural emissions.

>50% of land & 70% of agricultural emissions come from animal ag.

Good news is that there is now a cleaner, healthier alternative available, and more options are on the way.

Here's @andrealeong.bsky.social report back on tasting the future of food.

Cultivated meat allows us to enjoy the foods we love without needing to slaughter animals - reducing animal suffering, environmental impacts, and threats to public health such as animal borne diseases like bird flu.

The future is here and our President @andrealeong.bsky.social is on her way to taste it!

Australia has just approved its first cell-cultured meat product for sale. This is incredible news for animals, people and the environment!

Why is the National Party attacking Aussie innovation and people's right to choose what they eat?

David Littleproud MP is targeting cultivated meat – a safe, science-backed way to produce real meat without harming animals or the planet. It’s a step forward, not a threat.

Data centres are power hungry, requiring firm, reliable 24/7 power.

That’s why major tech companies, including Microsoft, Apple & Amazon, are investing in nuclear energy to power their data centres.

Tell @albomp.bsky.social to lift the ban.

Nuclear energy helps build more than a clean energy future, it builds strong, resilient communities where power stations exist.

More than 80 local leaders, representing approximately 9 million people, attended the IAEA summit in Vienna to deliver a powerful statement in support of nuclear energy.
