Walking around the Toronto boat show with my boyfriend, holding hands…a salesman spots us and says “my wife and I still try to hold hands in public too.”

Some of these MLK quotes seem so incredibly outdated here in the 2020’s.

Like, what on earth is this country he commended in his 1964 Nobel lecture?

CONFIRMED:

Earlier today Don Lemon reported a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, MN where they said pastor David Easterwood is Acting Director of the ICE Field Office.

They were 100% right.

I had a seminary professor who marked an essay I turned in with a note that said “You are so idealistic that it will make trouble for you. Remember, they crucified Jesus.”

So I get it.

And don’t get me started on how the church venerates martyrs while ignoring survivors.

I didn’t get any pictures during the service today, but I did snap one in the chapel before everything started.

On Jan. 14, 2001, Canada’s first two same-sex weddings happened in Toronto. It was a media circus and security nightmare — and it helped change the country.

I love that, in the time it took me to write that post, the Canes scored 2 more goals.
I always love to see the Canes win and the Panthers lose. But the Canes winning 9-1 over the Panthers the day after celebrating with the Orange One is just ridiculously gratifying.

I’m increasingly convinced that the whole “____ is a distraction” trope is an analytical crutch.

It deserves to be met with skepticism at least; and probably to be discarded altogether.

The rare snow day here in Toronto.

Which means that, over on the neighborhood ODR, a tractor is *clearing away snow* because it’s *covering up the ice.*

This will never fail to make me think of the old Norm MacDonald joke:

It’s a year old because, after a year or so, I thought to myself “I wonder what’s happening back on twitter?”

And it’s this.

A lot of y’all are still posting over there, and I’m judging you.
I’m gonna add “in other words, Christ-hating Satanists” to the end of my bio.

So 25 years ago today, the faith community I serve performed two same-sex marriages that ignited a movement that brought marriage equality to Ontario.

They are the first same-sex marriages to receive legal recognition.

I'm actually pretty proud to work there.
