Ann Arbor. I enjoy long bike rides into the sunset. 🏳️‍⚧️
I wonder how much money #amtrak could make if they strategically disposed of riders' returnable cans and bottles in states with the highest bottle deposits.

Decided to reactivate this account because I decided that the political climate shouldn't force me to be less visible. It's been quite the year for me. How is everyone doing?

Since I was last on here, I moved into a new house and had a mental health episode. Figuring out what's next in life now.

We really need to just let prisoners vote already. What in the 3/5 compromise is this?

Covering local news is a whole ass job. I briefly ran a news show on WCBN and there were not enough of us to adequately research and deliver stories each week, let alone do longer-term reporting. There needs to be a venue for us to sponsor/publish/organize local independent journalists.
Honestly, I would love to have more local blogs/indie journalists. When we started, there used to be a half dozen or more and I think there was a real synergy. More things got covered and there were more public conversations.

Just opened my mailbox for the first time in too long yesterday. Those Library Lot NIMBY mailers are quite something. Congrats to @lengau.net @jenncornell.bsky.social et. al. for drawing the ire of the pavement wasteland supporters.

Excited to see the results of today's election #a2council

The construction is currently eye level with my apartment and today I saw a couple guys riding these around. Absolutely wild to see these hovercraft things whipping around outside my window when I woke up this morning. Gotta be one of the most fun jobs on that site.

We heard you liked State being closed at Packard, so we closed Packard at State too! #annarbor

Super sad to learn Downtown Home and Garden in #annarbor will be closing at the end of the year.

The media is completely ignoring that Brown University just agreed to a full bathroom ban and defining trans people out of existence. Even worse, when they mention it, they're describing it as a sports ban. This is not just a sports ban.

The media is hiding what's happening here.

Going to have to borrow a car to get rid of my ebike waste lmao
July 30, 2025 at 1:45 PM
#ebikes are really cool when they work. Having wrenched these all summer long, I'm more skeptical about what happens when they don't. Does anyone want to guess what the manufacturer-recommended solution to this small shim falling out was? I'll give you a hint: it involves e-waste.

On the whole, the trans experience is shockingly similar to everything I was taught about being Jewish growing up. The sense of family, the shared struggle, the hatred from others. There are beautiful moments and scary moments. Right now is a scary moment for the trans community as a whole.
Due to the simultaneous taboo of explicit antisemitism and the vast increase in conspiracy theories, a new form of antisemitic trope has evolved: that targeting other minority groups.

Trans people. Even Palestinians. This allows the benefits of antisemitic tropes with far less backlash.

My latest.
Fascists Are Using Antisemitic Tropes to Target Other Groups
Fascists and other far right groups have found new ways to gain the benefits of antisemitism without the consequences that can come with it. This is their latest iteration.

There has been a do not enter sign and some flex posts installed now! Still don't think this will be my go-to route but it's better.
The Fifth Street counterflow bike lane... really sucks unfortunately. I've tried using it a handful of times now and it's sketchy at best.

Today I learned the term "cottage court." I wish we were building rather than demolishing these. Anyone know of other good examples other than Mary Court and Braun Court (RIP)? Would love to see more of these in #annarbor.

Absolutely insane behavior by @umich.edu. As a Jew, this does not make me feel safer on campus. Whether it's because I'm Jewish, trans, lesbian, leftist, or whatever else, I will likely someday find myself in a position where I disagree with the university.

Back at my summer job at the bike shop. I'm doing service writing now and I forgot just how draining it is. People always treat us like shit but it's turned up to 11 when you throw transphobia and/or misogyny into the mix.

Was down in the Seaport area of #boston yesterday. It's really starting to come together. Though the scale is different, I think #annarbor could draw some cues from here in terms of how our new high rises and such are built. Lots of impressive place making. Very pedestrian friendly and ok for bikes.

Had my first "woman at bike shop" experience the other day at Sweet Bikes in Canton. I touched a bike and a mechanic walked up to my friend and me and just stared at us. Like we tried to talk to him and he wouldn't say anything. Sir I know how to do your job and this ain't it.
