“If I lost everything I would just work harder and take any job to earn it all back”.

Cool story. Try doing that if you’re disabled and bedbound.

You know what often causes people to “lose everything”. Sudden catastrophic health issues.

You can’t “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” when sick.

Welp. Same as they "ended" the pandemic (re: too inconvenienced by all the sick pay), looks like the airlines apparently will end the government shutdown, too. 😒

What in the hell was all this for, then? Because it certainly wasn't for the starving people losing their healthcare.

I feel this should be obvious but we do understand the reason for the focus on gender affirming care for incarcerated people, right? The goal is to get people to admit that they think gender affirming care is *not medically necessary*.

Pre-ACA, my partner (who has Crohn's Disease) was once denied coverage on my insurance for a whole year — because my employer filed paperwork for the company's new plan late, and there was a ONE DAY GAP of coverage.

Oh, and I had no healthcare until I was 18 and got a FT job instead of college. 😒
@talsmith.bsky.social Since you're apparently not old enough to remember: One of the many reasons we enacted Obamacare is because insurance companies were routinely kicking women off their insurance coverage once they were diagnosed with breast cancer.

I didn't have the heart to share yesterday, but yeah... sweet BeeBee's time over the rainbow came late Wednesday night. 🌈🐝 We laid her to rest yesterday in a pollinator garden next to our building. I already miss her terribly. What a gift, to love a gentle bee for a whole week.
Wednesday was bee's last day with us. After Tuesday's high energy time outside she was lethargic and we knew it would be time soon. She had another outing and spent some time on flowers. @beingtea.com had set up their headphones for her a few days earlier so she got to hear some more music too.

Day 6: BeeBee is still with us! They had an awesome field trip this morning. @lamantia.bsky.social and I took them to some clover patches and neighborhood bushes to feed on fresh flowers — look at that happy face! 🐝

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."

That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

Care about disability rights?

DOE is trying to change the rules so new buildings are NOT REQUIRED TO BE ACCESSIBLE to people with disabilities.

Day 4 with our sweet little rescue bee, and we finally found a flower they're super enthusiastic about! 🐝🥰 Got all pollen-y and fed. BeeBee has mostly been eating sugar water and plain water, so this is lovely to see.

Masks are under serious threat at being banned widely due to politicization. This would be a public health disaster. If you are only wearing a mask at protests, please consider also wearing them elsewhere. The more people mask, the more we normalize masks and protect them against bans.

If you're looking for a way to carry some momentum from today forward, here's a *very* timely next action you can take. ✊❤️ Because apparently, wheelchair ramps and such are (checks notes) "outdated" now?? 🫩
Urgent community action needed by Monday!

“DOE wants to remove 12 civil rights rules. Part of these are disability access protections. They say the rules are unnecessary & outdated”

This will mean buildings aren’t accessible to disabled people. Another step towards eliminating us from society

SBUX circa 1999, Las Vegas. I'm working a closing shift. It's a weekend, we're slammed and jammin'. A regular customer comes in and exclaims to the 3 of us behind the bar, "Holy shit, did you just see Mike Tyson came in here?!?" (it was a fight night) In unison, all 3 of us go, "meh..." 😂
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

We've been taking care of a very sweet wayward bee for the last 2 days. They've been a welcome presence amid the awfulness of this week. 🐝
A happy surprise that bee friend survived the night, although upside-down again. Got some fresh flowers and @beingtea.com administered a few drops of water & sugar water. Got pics this time!
