I'm famous so I'm keeping this anonymous for now. just kidding—everyone's famous in small town social media, aren't they? Wearied activist. Also wary, but I meant weary.

My 2025 goals: 1) Join bsky. 2) Read more. Halfway there!
Argh @bsky.app when will you do something abt this visual unpleasantry, the spinning circle? I might've been addicted to this site by now if that one feature wasn't so obnoxious.

Settings for video autoplay: Off
Spinning circle: still On

Ex of what I see in my timeline, causing me to shut the app:
a black and white circle with a gray stripe in the middle on a white background .

For Oregon's LC2 hearing Monday, somebody wrote, "Please....please consider alternatives that punish us and our fellow Oregonians." Uh, did ORleg admin leave out a word?

That letter in particular made me think a lot abt "affordable" housing. See if you can find it amid the 100s of LC2 testimonials.

If Kotek will "eliminate existing statutory language" about tolling, does that mean scrapping HB 2017 altogether, or just the part about tolling? @dirquez.bsky.social

Gov. Tina Kotek said Wednesday she has a recipe to successfully divert mass layoffs at the state’s transportation agency — and it doesn’t look too different from a plan lawmakers failed to pass last month.

Well, it's late July & I may've given up on my New Year's resolution "I'm-so-well-read-&-up-on-the-latest-literary-fiction" reading list. Now reading Jackie Collins' Hollywood Wives🤷‍♀️

Thoughts one third in: as written, I doubt it would've gotten published nowadays (& I don't just mean stylistically)

Having a great bicycle socio-culture isn't the same thing as having a great bike transportation system & infrastructure, just as a prevailing car culture isn't the same thing as a safe & efficient system of car transportation for the masses

Also, one of these systems is much costlier than the other

Dontcha love these "one roll is two" & even "1 roll = 4 rolls" marketing ploys...

San Francisco: very hilly, and one of the most bike-friendly cities in North America
Posts about urban biking in Dutch cities are routinely replied to with something like “well, they have the big advantage of being relatively flat.”

The Dutch also have the big advantage of not constantly making excuses about why they can’t make clearly smarter decisions.

Great point, not to mention in Lincoln County, one commissioner's banned from his office & one local mayor was "fired" by her city council for allegedly being mean to staff. Two other letters to the editor defend Gomberg, glossing right over that part of the story. Is it ok to harangue staff or not?
July 21, 2025 at 7:07 PM
TIL there's also a cartoonist named David Gomberg; this article's not about that Gomberg. This is about the World Kiting Hall of Fame member, a fact I also just learned about our state rep while looking for more news about his driveway

No road pics before 2020, really? Not even dash or bikecam vid?

I have begun commuting primary via bike, and probably 70% of my ride is this, which is wonderful, and lovely, and I wish y’all could have this commute as well.

In line at a grocery store in David Gomberg's district, this story caught my eye & made me buy the Sunday paper. If a woman hadn't been ahead of me trying to get help figuring out the labyrinthine bus schedule I'd have missed it

Haha, that cover photo's a sight I've seen for years from the window of the Lincoln County bus.

I'm just catching up on this sudden transportation package fail. Weird former ORLeg characters are bubbling up like that Hwy 101 asphalt in the various reporting, including the one & only Hot Coupon Mama

Growing a garden is a very unvegan activity.

It's just that the organisms killed in the pursuit of vegetables are small & lack fur.

Even if drowning in a strategically placed jar of beer is a better (and sort of voluntary) way to go than getting chopped in half by a shovel, it's still slug murder.
