From Bronze Age Wales, the spectacular Mold Cape! 🤩

An incredible ancient feat of sheet-goldworking, beaten from a single gold ingot some 3,600 years ago!

The extraordinary embossed decoration is said to mimic strings of beads.

A little snippet from our minute books shines a light on a bit of global history:

20th Jan 1687: "French protestants have asked for the use of the chapel so they can have a Minister preaching in French to them..."

There must have been a small but significant number of Huguenots living in York!

Another epic Chilterns hillfort reconstruction for #HillfortsWednesday 🤩🤩👇
Here's the other half of the pair, from a 'best guess' on the arrangement at Danesfield (1900s hotel & landscape gardens put paid to a lot of it; RAF use in the WWII period affected other aspects)
But some of the earthworks are still in good nick.

We made assumptions about contemporaneous use...

It’s difficult to underestimate the extra burden that this is placing on our public libraries. For example, on a daily basis library workers are now filling the in-person/human service gap that billion euro banking institutions have abdicated from to maximise their profit margins.
"Essential services are now digital by default, leaving many older people feeling locked out of their own lives."

As more of our lives move online by default, digital ageism has quietly become one of the last unchallenged prejudices, writes Fiona Daly.

Opinion: We’ve grown far too comfortable excluding older people from the digital world
