A copy of the first Superman issue, unearthed by three brothers cleaning out their late mother’s attic, netted $9.12 million this month at a Texas auction house, which says it is the most expensive comic book ever sold.

Texas auction house snags historic $9.12M for rare Superman comic. Where was it found?
The “Superman No. 1” comic, released in 1939 by Detective Comics Inc., is one of a small number of copies known to be in existence.

Jack Nicholson voice: “I’d like an egg salad sandwich, hold the bread, hold the mayo, no lettuce, onion or celery, leave the egg uncooked and unbroken … to go.”
As opposed to a sandwich sniper, capable of nailing an ICE agent in the forehead with a Reuben from 200 yards.
“recorded throwing a sandwich at a federal officer at point-blank range.” Point blank. Damn. Imagine the even greater damage this sandwich would have done if it’d been a contact shot.

Great piece of baseball writing. But the author doesn’t take into account the many, many Jays fans who are also Leaf fans — sports fanatics with calluses on their calluses. Deeply emotionally scarred bunch. They’ll survive

As a former sports writer, the Jays winning would have been by far the better story. And I don't say that as a (bandwagon) Jays fan. "Gazillion-dollar Hall-of-Fame-loaded Dodgers repeat" is the most boring story in sports -- even if they did have to come from behind.

Shout out to two brilliant photographers I was lucky enough to work with over the years at The Canadian Press:

Two decades ago, father-and-son photos showed what was to come for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Old photos have resurfaced, bringing additional meaning for the players — and the photographers.

My reporter friends should read this:
“Journalism” and “media” are loaded words. “People don’t dislike what you do,” the toolkit states. “They dislike what they think ‘journalism’ means.”
