New @cmaj.ca piece authored by Drs. Julio Montaner & Robert Hogg and Stephen Lewis outlines why Canada should not miss its opportunity to lead the global effort in sustaining progress toward 2030 #HIV targets by delivering on the promise of a made-in-Canada strategy - #TasP - to end HIV/AIDS!

BC-CfE Executive Director Dr. Julio Montaner joined Drs. Susan Kuo, Lynn Filiatrault & Victor Leung to speak to the importance of scientific rigour (particularly with the rise of political policies that dismiss science) and how it's helped him shape international #HIV treatment & prevention policy.
This POP BC interview with three remarkable physicians shows us that science is the candle in the dark giving us hope for the future.

"We either pay a little now, or a lot more later."

Dr. Julio Montaner's @vancouversun.bsky.social op-ed on #WorldAIDSDay highlights the urgency in which we need political leaders to understand the threat before us (as #HIV rates rise & funding declines) and adopt proven, cost-effective strategies.

Thank you to @hedyfry.bsky.social and the physician parliamentarians for hosting Dr. Montaner in Ottawa this week!

We have the tools to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. With robust support from our political leaders, we can ensure these tools help meet our target of ending the epidemic by 2030.
Thanks Dr. Julio Montaner, OC, OBC, for presenting arresting statistics on the status of HIV in 🇨🇦 + its potential for a public health crisis—one that can be prevented by fed/prov gov't action. Physician parliamentarians were just the audience to understand & advocate for action.

World AIDS Day is on Dec. 1.

Since 2004, global deaths have been in decline due to greater access to diagnostics, treatment & prevention.

This hard-won progress is now at risk due to major cuts to global public health.

We can't afford to go backward.
