Londoners do not understand how expensive our transport is compared to equivalent cities, and how much of it is paid through fares vs taxes.

That it is so much worse elsewhere in the UK (I know, I’m from Leeds!) should not blind us to far we still need to go here in London.

Another point to make is that certain types of crime - the prominent, alarming types - have ticked up again.

Theft may not be up by much, but brazen “snatch theft” is at levels not seen since 2014…

As Keir Starmer meets Blackrock head Larry Fink, I've published an excerpt from Vulture Capitalism on the rise of Blackrock, and Fink, on my Substack.

Megalopolis sees Francis Ford Coppola go full Neil Breen
Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis is a kaleidoscopic piece of late-era filmmaking that also resembles a Neil Breen Z-movie vanity project.

This was the best dissection of Trump's victory that I've come across since the election.
📢NEW EPISODE 📢 A crossover show with James Meadway of @macrodosepod.bsky.social on the economic dimension of Trump's election victory and why James lays much of the blame for Kamala Harris' defeat at the door of mainstream economics:
