Super low hanging safety fruit. US regulators have had a decade plus to get manufacturers to make safe door handles and still they haven’t.

Reactivated my flickr www.flickr.com/photos/sheep... because I’m kinda posting photos again and I’ve got a fair number of good shots and albums there.

I’ll keep posting to pixelfed. Just trying to figure out if I’ll mostly share my pixelfed or flickr to here.

The actual scenario is Vivaldi’s CEO accused others of reshaping the address bar. Apple Intelligence summarised it to say the opposite.

Check the thread this post is in for the real story.

Vivaldi & Orion are the best browsers to use these days.
And this, right here, is a great example of why we should be concerned. “Apple intelligence” just flipped the script and blamed him. Now imagine that across 25,000 news headlines

That type of video is AI spam. They feed the genAI system a few prompts, it spits out tens if not hundreds of videos with slight variations, then they post all of them hoping one attracts the algorithm. Same modus operandi as spam emails.
More than 20% of videos shown to new YouTube users are ‘AI slop’, study finds
Low-quality AI-generated content is now saturating social media – and generating about $117m a year, data shows

13 runs without a wicket? Is that the longest time between wickets this whole test? The biggest partnership so far? #Ashes

I’m old enough I remember when Australian pitches were constantly so flat and boring nobody could get wickets, so both teams batted way too long without declaring. #Ashes

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but
2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but
3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So
4. Now the LLM code points to malware.
LLMs hallucinating nonexistent software packages with plausible names leads to a new malware vulnerability: "slopsquatting."
LLMs can't stop making up software dependencies and sabotaging everything
: Hallucinated package names fuel 'slopsquatting'

This comes round every year. It's not actually Amazon's doing, it's a public domain repackager. And the reason they do this is because the film is public domain... except for Pottersville. So they cut that bit out so they can sell it legally.

Ok seems like they were deleting negative comments for a while & have now deleted the video. I am sure these people love their grandmother but sorry it’s time to start making more people think about the ghoulish soulless creeping AI environment they are participating in
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction
