Cool, a pavilion in Mons, Belgium, that was built in 1531, dedicated to Emperor Charles V, and collapsed in the 1950s after a storm has received funding to be rebuilt - as the fragments have been kept -

I won't watch this just yet - I may get too worked up, and avoiding stress triggers is key to my recovery atm - but anyone who's in better mental shape than me and who cares about education, literacy and freedom of information, of speech, of religion and in general, may want to take a gander.⬇️

Surprised Eel Historian, an appropriate account to follow in the Discworld year of the Curious Squid.
Usually I focus on freshwater eel history, but today let's talk congers!

A marine species, congers are the world's largest eel, growing to 6 ft. & 150 lbs. or so.

From the 1190s on, they were big business in the Channel Islands, where sales of the fish was a ducal monopoly. 1/2

Yet another bird themed manuscript, this time 13th c. and musical! (The sketchy birb may be later; the bagpipes are probably original!)

Hey, Portland Knitters!!

There is a huge Knit-In on Mar 8 in DC hosted by my friend @knittingcultlady.bsky.social. I am not able to go, and would love to put together a satellite event here in PDX.

Is anything in the works already? Can folks connect me to Knitters Against Fascism?

If only people cared this much about books before they were getting destroyed.
Conserving, storing, making and keeping large quantities of physical books available is labourious and expensive, over 2 million titles are published every year, and destructive book reproduction has existed for ages.
