A good thread and good reminder that we need better ways to talk about nature loss. 🪶
I grew up in Ohio, obsessed with Ohio birds. Then spent ~10 years away for undergrad research and grad school before being back in Ohio.
And the biodiversity loss is obvious just over that 10 year period-- birds that used to be relatively easy to find are just...not anymore.

This also goes for any issue someone else has a lot of personal experience with that you don't.
note that when someone talks about food aversion, or a caregiver of someone with food aversion talks about it, your common sense advice (make your own! Fake it with packaging! Buy this other brand!) isn't going to be helpful. It's not our first day. We've thought of it.

Feral neighbors go out on their porch at insane times of night. It's 5am right now, and their dog, who never barks is out on their porch barking. In freezing weather. When I opened our porch door I'm pretty sure I heard a human out there with him. wtf???
