One of the best things I’ve read in a while:

"A majority of New Yorkers just voted for these policies. Here's why he shouldn't do them, and why it would actually be antisemitic to try."

The world if all the Power Broker bros got obsessed with David Graeber/Wengrow's "The Dawn of Everything" instead

They try to act like Jews speak with a singular voice, and when you are forced to invoke your Jewish identity to argue otherwise, they immediately call you a token and undermine your claim to the identity.
All my life I was told I was Jewish, I was stopped by Hasids on the streets asking me to wrap Tefillin, I was invited to Jewish holidays from strangers, etc.

The ONLY time I’ve been told I’m NOT a real Jew is when I criticize Israel.

Go fuck yourself Alex

“what of the writers, the thinkers, and the pundits who cannot separate the great crime of Kirk’s death from the malignancy of his public life? Can they truly be so ignorant to the words of a man they have so rushed to memorialize?”

If you can understand why Jews relate to the concept of "Zionism" as an abstract, aspirational call for self-determination and not just through its concrete victims, you should understand why Palestinians might feel the same about the First Intifada. And the reverse is also true.

THREAD: It's been one year since the mob attack on UCLA's Palestine Solidarity Encampment. Most of what you've heard about this is completely wrong. I filed a lawsuit with a team of lawyers against UCLA and the mob attackers two weeks ago. Here's the real story. 1/13

Rosenstrasse protest - Wikipedia

Reminds me of the 1943 Rosenstrasse protest.
"The successful outcome of this late protest suggests that if similar actions at an earlier stage had been carried out throughout Germany, they might have halted the increasingly destructive course of the German anti-Jewish policy." (-German historian)

Last night’s article in the Washington Post about D.C. police responding to a 911 call by illegally letting DOGE onto private property is unlike any news story I have ever read. Every single person should read this article and think about where our society is going.

Bezos' talk about "personal liberties" reminds me of a very popular thread I once wrote over on the Bad Place, about libertarians and what they mean by "freedom."

@drvolts: 1. All right, fine, I'm waiting for a frozen pizza to cook, might as well rant about libertarianism in the meantime. I wanna focus not on the psychology of adherents (though, as one of the a...
