It's fascinating. Sean Judge is seriously worth listening to.
The new episode of the Threads pod is out!

This time we hear from Sean Judge who started the Facebook group Threads Survivors.

When he he first watched the film he had months of sleepless nights and threw his VHS copy in the bin. He talks about how Threads inspired him to work with death.

Always a pleasure to hear the boys... And I've long been a fan of Mrs Miggins.
This week’s Major Star is Mrs Miggins, a welcome female addition to the sausage fest that is Blackadder The Third. Far from having a “brain the size of a sultana” she reveals herself to be a canny businesswoman with a floury finger on the pulse of the times.

On today's episode I am going to take a look at the album “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead, the band's fourth studio album released on November 8, 1980.

Right. @davenuclear.bsky.social found this in his shed. And it's gorgeous. Until you take the planar view. He's gonna fix it. Yes he can! Well, he'd better....

We were honoured to meet the wonderful Trevor Horn this evening at the Apex Theatre. He spoke about his life the magnificent music that soundtracked the 80sz and answered @pankp007.bsky.social question at length about the brilliant Annihilation Mix by Frankie. Just a joyous evening.

So... Merch t-shirts are now invariably £40 to £45. This happened almost imperceptibly. I remember not long ago they being £25. The move through the 30s was quick and under the radar. Highly unsatisfactory.

No spoilers here, so don't worry but there's a point when POTUS says "I was listening to a podcast the other day...".
Surely there could have been only one?

@bangpodcast.bsky.social best show yet fellas! I'm biased of course being a massive goth fan! Interesting that you mentioned the Doors - I believe they were the first band to be described as goth, years before what we think of as the 1980s heyday of the movement

Nice to get a shout out and will be listening to the latest episode tomorrow as I’ve caught up now. So that’s a must as I’ve said before this is a great podcast.

I had never considered Black Planet as a possible nuclear war song, so that gives me something new to consider. And since Cities in Dust made my own list, I agree with your selection. 😁 Great picks and now I'm considering making a new playlist that's less pop alternative than my current one.

A fantastic episode, gentlemen! I’m with Dave about the goth label, I’m mostly used to it, but I feel it’s broadly misapplied. Of course I know all of the artists, but not the last two tracks. That David J song is hard-hitting. I’ve seen four of five live in some iteration (not Sisters yet). Cheers!

From @davenuclear.bsky.social
As we note and celebrate #BohemianRhapsody at 50, I thought I'd share a potted thought of how (I think) Freddie's use of 3 chords informed much of his songwriting. Years ago I droned on at length to @lappods.bsky.social @swordofreason.bsky.social about this. @oiqfc.bsky.social

Love the idea of these petit-pods. And this is really good. Some fab little nuggets from Jane Hazlegrove here.
Episode five is live. It’s a micro episode with some extra bits from my Jane Hazlegrove interview and a few bits of news about the pod.

In some added Turmoil this week I've been notified that the show has earned its first copyright strike!

I suggest listening to the unexpurgated episode ASAP in case they don't accept my response and I'm forced to remove and edit it.

Tell your friends.

Loved that this week’s episode featured two of my favourite tracks from two great artists. Genesis with Land of Confusion and Talking Heads with Life During Wartime. Both cracking songs and another cracking episode.
Episode 17 is out! Happy Diwali everyone. We look at artists who featured on day 1 of MTV broadcasting. The Buggles, Fischer-Z, Genesis, The Vapors and Talking Heads all up for discussion (even though @pankp007.bsky.social has a cold).
