From the bottom of my heart, thank you @brianphillips for this summary

I have zero doubts about how much more enjoyable this was than having paid attention or trying to catch up on journo group texts

There is an internal narrative at NPR that listenership and support dropped because the Covid pandemic meant fewer commuters listening on the radio (Meanwhile podcasting and audio news shows like The Daily grew by leaps and bounds)

The comments on this post appear to tell a very different story

It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

Is NPR erasing diverse voices?

NPR's Diverse Sources Database - an incredibly resource for qualified experts from underrepresented and marginalized perspectives -- is GONE. Click any link to the former directory and it just says "not found." One example: guides.library.columbia.edu/findingsources

There's something about the way men use LLMs that feel like those men at the strip club who believe that the dancers like them for their personality and wit.

They just want a toy that makes them feel good.

Also talked about The Onion being inefficient on purpose.

It’s so so cool to work in a media environment where news managers are terrified of even the slightest whiff of “woke” journalism and yet this kind of person is a bureau chief

I feel an under-appreciated aspect of the relationship between white supremacism and Western support for Israel is the limits to Israel’s perceived whiteness, there’s a definite tendency to discursively re-“Middle Easternize” them when their and Western objectives visibly deviate from each other.

Please have a look at how NPR sees the work of its own reporters who highlight the well documented attacks on American civil rights underway today:
The content review this period focused on what it framed as "hot button social issues" and while it touched on several stories, here is what it said about mine:

NPR, not so much.

We see this contrast elsewhere. (Harvard v Columbia. Perkins Coie vs Paul Weiss.) It's striking.
