Really craving some cinnamon rugelach from Zabar’s right now, but I’d settle for a nice chocolate babka.

See, I read this think, oh gosh, what a shame for 3I/ATLAS to have traveled all that way, a generation ship from a dying planet, only to break into pieces as it tried to slow down and enter our system.

We need a wartime Minority Leader, not Fredo. If Kelly is willing to step up, I'm down with that.

What this @wired.com piece doesn't come right out and say - though it should - is that AI in filmmaking is mostly aesthetically acceptable only to Christian Nationalist and Fascist audiences, while most people find it cheesy at best, revolting and unnatural at worst. www.wired.com/story/amazon...
Amazon’s ‘House of David’ Used Over 350 AI Shots in Season 2. Its Creator Isn’t Sorry
The show, which follows David’s ascent to King of Israel, used four times as much AI this season, including for many of its battle scenes.

Somehow my wife has talked me into watching Thursday Murder Club and OMG it’s a Hallmark movie with an expensive cast and slightly better production value.
How the hell did Netflix end up with this?

It's *really* interesting watching Ohio State implode like this. Like, that university is going to be a smoking hole in the ground by the time they're done with all this AI madness. It's a lot more expensive than just rolling out iPads to everyone and calling it a day. And harder to walk back.

been doing some light reading about the aftermath of the korean dictatorship and I think it's really important that we repeat this to ourselves, to our friends, to our neighbors, to our politicians
Nuremburg trials is the moderate position
He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

Really happy they ended the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction this year with one of the big “everybody joins” sing-alongs. Those died out after Tom Petty passed and Jeff Lynne stopped coming. Good to see them give one a go.

Look, I do not envy anybody having to sing in place of Chris Cornell. It’s impossible.

Watching the RRHOF induction. Don’t want to alarm anyone but Joe Perry can barely play at this point. Bryan Adams, OTOH, can still sing like a motherfucker.

One thing I really love about the Adrian Tchaikovsky Children of Time books is that he takes this issue in research science and inverts the gender situation among the Portiids. I wish more male readers would grasp what he's doing there.
Thinking only of Rosalind Franklin today, and what was stolen from her (and so many other female scientists alongside her).
Rosalind Franklin and the damage of gender harassment
Spurred by a recent report on sexual harassment in academia, our columnist revisits a historical case and reflects on what has changed—and what hasn’t

Get a cast iron skillet. Melt some butter in it, cut some rosemary and sage from your herb garden, infuse the melted butter. Slice your potatoes thinly, but not chip style. Lightly sea salt and black pepper the raw slices, then fry those spuds in the skillet until crispy golden brown. Heaven.
Making fries or hash browns out of it. Potatoes are born to be fried.
What do you think is the best way to cook a potato? I think it's a jacket, but roast is also good.

He said 135 Billion Pounds, not Million. With a population of ~340 million people, that means each man, woman, and child in America would need to lose approximately 397 pounds by Nov. 3 of next year.
Guess I'll die then. And then some.

Entirely possible the US ends up a lot like Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union. Petrostate run by the Klept, poor economics for all but the wealthy, crumbling military, environmental disasters everywhere, poor health outcomes and radically reduced life expectancy, etc.
Except, you know, in the US.
We are going to live in a world where the the marginal cost of electricity is very close to zero

Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative
