Can we talk about how bad macOS 26 is? Here's Apple Music. The top of the window is obscured by unnecessary blur effect and the Player controls at the bottom obscure the album info. This is terrible, terrible UI sacrificing usability for bad Windows Vista aesthetics.

Look how they massacred my boy.

Late night thought:

One of my favorite @bruces.bsky.social books is Love is Strange. I go back and re-read that one every couple years. It's a deeply weird book, and was only available on Kindle.

I dread the day it vanishes from my Kindle library, and wish it existed as a physical print somewhere.

Had a client about 6 years ago ask me explicitly to remove a section of my talk addressing the probability of robot brothels, AI relationships, and the growing loneliness/isolation epidemic. Which is funny because their particular product is highly likely to be used to manage these, er...services.

I think it's instructive that when asked about the Jackpot in the Peripheral (& Agency), Gibson says that it really began at the beginning of the 20th century, when warming accelerated. We are not at the beginning of the PolyCrisis, we're heading into the back half of it now.
