Have you ever wondered why physicists are so excited to study the Higgs Boson at a new Higgs Factory collider?

Wonder no more!

I explain what a Higgs factory is, why we need one, and the amazing measurements the machine will make.

Check it out!

I wrote about how X as an online rumor mill that feeds the hard right propaganda machine, destroying lives in the process.

Ben Shapiro and others in the movement have started to realize that it’s dangerous and bad — because it’s negatively impacting them too, now…

🔁 Loop closing. 24 years ago I submitted my thesis that described how well LHCb could measure asymmetries in this very rare decay, notably A_FB, with 5 years of running. Now we publish this result, with many more asymmetries and intriguing discrepancies with the theoretical prediction. ⚛️🧵
🎄A comprehensive analysis of the B⁰→ K*⁰μ⁺μ⁻ decay arxiv.org/abs/2512.18053 - The measurements of the CP-averaged observables and the branching fractions continue to exhibit the pattern of tensions with the Standard Model predictions that have been seen in previous analyses.

I haven’t seen this label used before but it seems apt. The video contains a good discussion of what “science populism” is and how it’s harmful.

This is appalling.

The problem isn’t entertaining ET hypotheses, it’s making absurd claims backed by atrocious statistical analyses that misinform and scare the public.

One part in a billion and 40% are both less than 0.5, so they’re basically the same thing.

Come on.

A huge open question in particle physics asks: why do the fundamental particles of the Standard Model appear as 3 light copies with different masses? 🤔

Why are there 3 generations in the Standard Model? 👶👨👴

Did you know that your old TV was an in home particle accelerator?

Old cathode ray tube TVs generated particles, accelerated them, diverted them, and smashed them into a phosphor coated screen to create images!

@timhenke.bsky.social and I have noticed that a new type of scicommer has emerged.

This type of communicator is marked by their cynicism and spending a significant amount of time undermining scientific institutions.

We call them science populists.

One of the most important measurements at a new Higgs Factory collider is the Higgs Boson's intrinsic width or decay rate.

Could the Higgs interact with more particles than exist within the Standard Model?

@theorydad.bsky.social explains!

A quick elevator pitch for a new Higgs Factory collider.

There is a very powerful scientific (and economic) rationale for building a new collider to produce and study huge numbers of Higgs Bosons.

My full case is here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtJg...

"Science populists" present a narrative that is anti-science, using techniques from the world of politics, whilst rubbishing institutions and misleading audiences about problems in science - and pursuing a personal agenda at the same time.

Are you familiar with the story of the Antarctica sequences?

If not, good for you: you didn't clutter your brain with yet another Covid-origin damp squib, where innocuous data were made to look suspicious by misrepresenting a date.

For the curious, here's the story. ▫️1/9 🧵 #CovidOrigin

If you're interested in particle physics specifically, you gotta check out my friend @badboyofscience.bsky.social

Another great science communicator is Angela Collier. She doesn't take bullshit but she has so much enthusiasm to share

There's also Rebecca Watson, she's great but more opinionated

Had a great time discussing whether "aliens speak physics" with @danielwhiteson.bsky.social .

When the aliens arrive, will they understand our physics? Will they have the same laws? Will they want to discuss the subject?

We address these Qs and many more!
