i love how German forms new words by joining words together. came across "Über-kopf-wegweiser" today (=over-head-signpost).
apparently no one added it to forvo before... fixed that: forvo.com/word/%C3%BCb...

that's a wrap on the winter semester. now i have two weeks before the next semester starts.

the other courses i've held many times, but IT security will be a first and requires preparation.

thankful for academics who generously share their material: engineering.purdue.edu/kak/compsec/ #AcademicSky

CT scan results for my brother are out. thankfully, it's 'only' stage two colon cancer, where the tumor is localised to a small area and there is no metastasis. hopefully, an operation should be enough. this is a reminder to never ignore symptoms and to get a colonoscopy

for some reason i falsely remembered Madame Bovary was written by Balzac (it was of course by Flaubert) and not liking it, i never gave his books a chance. but having read this short story makes me want to read "the human comedy". or at least parts of it #booksky

i don't understand the defeatist attitude towards and acceptance of technologies and tools. everyone i know, complains about whatsapp group chats, yet they keep using it. we are free to delete the app, you know. life will go on

programming event with the students went better than expected: attendance was high, projects were great, food and gifts were well received. it was a few hectic days in Istanbul, but i came back home to a belated birthday cake made by my aunt, so all is well :)
