Remember, classes are fighting styles, not character backgrounds.

You can play a noble rogue, who fights dirty. A hippy fighter who protects the forests with blade and spear or a druid who lives in the city and turns into rats.

Don't be constrained by tropes.

I'm my table's forever GM and these are the TTRPG villains I almost exclusively use:

• Eldritch monsters.
• Cults that promise to have the people's best interest in mind (they don't).
• Villains that take positions of authority through "legal" means.
I'm my table's forever GM and these are the TTRPG villains I almost exclusively use:

My players deepest darkest fears
My players characters deepest darkest fears
The personification of capitalism
I'm my table's forever GM and these are the TTRPG villains I almost exclusively use:

Abuse of Authority
Untrustworthy Wizard
Literal manifestation of the concept of entropy

Explain your lore but poorly:

A madness monster is making the pirates go crazy.
Explain your lore but poorly:

Listen once upon a time it was there. Then it wasn't. Now we're pretty sure it is, but we have no idea due to what happened last time. And last time still isn't. Got it?
Explain your lore but poorly: I have deceived you all into thinking I'm a captain, but I do command a ship.

Enemies can have magic items too!

As simple as healing potions or scrolls that the enemies can use in battle, or even powerful relics!

Not every magic item the party comes across has to be usable by the party, maybe it's an item they can use to bargain with later!

Tuesday Tabletop Tips:

Use random encounters to make travel interesting. Not every encounter on the road needs to result in combat.

See that band of goblins over there? They're just a peaceful group of travelling pilgrims, but they do have a quest for the heroes!

People want stories.

We are drawn to the story in art. We pause and spend time with a painting until we find the joy in each brushstroke. In that moment we see the artist and storyteller like a wizard behind the curtain. That is absent in gen ai.

Go be that storyteller.

Go be human and create.

Good morning!

Dm totd: while world ending issues are important for main plot points, don't forget "local ending issues"!

Make sure your party has plenty of smaller scale issues to fix, as this will help immerse them in the world, as well as connect them with npcs!

#Worldbuilding TotD!

Keeping on with my last tip, to make your world unique, you generally only need 1 big *thing*.

Compare popular fantasy media, and while some themes and creatures are unique, the worlds are simple and relatable.

Find your world's one *thing* and polish it!
