Hi. 👋 It's nice to get a little influx of new followers. I'm Adam and, as you can see, I'm a town planner with a particular interest in how urban design and infrastructure can deliver climate solutions. Looking like a long-lost member of the Village People is an added perk of the job.
These numbers are only countless if you can't count to six.

"Somehow the Wonder of Life Prevails" by Jimmy Lavalle and Mark Kozelek is the only song that makes me cry every time I listen to it—not because it's sad, but because it's so beautiful. It's a song which will always pick me up, gently, out of the deep pits I sometimes find myself in.
Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)

You could ask about the feasibility of frequent flier levies, the scalability of sustainable aviation fuels, the cost of decarbonising aviation compared to the cost of climate impacts. Or you could do this facile gotcha question bullshit.

This is such a daft and revealing line of questioning. I don't think we elect Greens because they don't fly; surely we elect them because they'd deliver the alternatives to flying for all of us? I think the Greens are the only English party to support the delivery of HS2 in full, for example.
#bbclaurak tries to get a gotcha. Zack, you refuse to fly. How can you be a candidate for high office if you'd refuse to ever get on a plane?

Well Laura, in that situation I'd get on a plane.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

"The standard response to these warnings is that it is eco-warrior doom-mongering. But these warnings are not coming from Greenpeace; they are coming from the security services and the defence establishment."

Excellent thread on how "serious people" are responding (or not) to climate risk. 👇

"We have a ridiculous situation where the House of Commons doubles as the parliament of both the UK and England. This is not ideal. The governor of California can’t also be the president of the US. There are clearly conflicting priorities."

☝️ We don't talk about this enough.

I was heckled by another MP while asking about inclusive relationship education in schools

Sickened but not really surprised that homophobia is alive and well on the bench behind me

'They're primary school kids' he says - as if no primary school kids have lesbian or gay parents!

"The UK does not have enough land to feed its population and rear livestock: a wholesale change in consumer diets would be required." re: the challenge of food security under nature collapse.

Currently sat on a Scotrail train that isn't moving 15 minutes after it was meant to depart and I can't check if they are giving any info online because they exclusively use the Nazi child abuse site for real time customer information. This is not a sustainable state of affairs.

More and more of us are coming to terms with not only our queer identities, but also our neurodiversity. What are the parallels?

What can we learn from ‘neuroqueer’ theory?
Increasing rates of neurodiversity are no more a trend than the higher proportion of people coming out - but there are some parallels between neurodiversity and queerness

It was the same in Syria, if memory serves. Environmental degradation as a catalyst for civil disruption, deadly uprisings and war is underreported by the media and underpriced by global leaders.

The single biggest thing (in cost terms) I’ve changed my mind about is UK tuition fees. Dreadful system, need to scrap it.
This is clearly depressing and radicalising in a way a tax wouldn't have been.

Plaid Cymru and the Greens are surging in Wales, according to this latest poll.

Where’s the media narrative around this? Where are the stories saying Farage is failing? When will Labour try to regain ground by appealing to Plaid & Green voters, not just copy Reform?

It's past time we put this failed deregulation experiment to bed. It hasn't improved services or driven down fares. We're held to ransom and forced to pay these exorbitant fares. SPT are blazing a trail, ScotGov needs to recognise this is vital and support them in the budget next week.
Today First Glasgow put single fares up to a whopping £3.25, leaving us with some of the most expensive buses in the UK 💸

How can ScotGov allow this blatantly unfair situation to persist? 😤
