Hey all, here's a post at @ssrc.org about how anti-trans talking points are getting wrapped into Google's AI search results.

AI search not only cites anti-trans disinfo, but sanitizes it, making practices like conversion therapy sound legitimate and safe.
Anti-Transgender Disinformation in the Age of Algorithmic Search Summaries
Recently Google introduced a feature in its search engine that algorithmically creates summaries of one's search results. Though it could be viewed as a useful tool, researcher Anna Beers argues this ...

Visiting my alma mater to give a talk on my book project (which is VERY MUCH in progress mind you).

It’s really a dream come true and feels like a homecoming. WGSS at UNCG shaped me in such profound ways and without my training there I would not be the scholar I am today. Simply thrilled!

This is SO awful and wont stand the test of time as a good decision. Genuinely shocked it appears to be a done deal.

Extremely proud of the title “How to lose a culture war” & of the connections we make to FOSTA/SESTA & fears of reproductive futures reimagined.

Short, free to read and hopefully provocative.

Pritzker seems to be the only one warning about this regularly
Pritzker: "One of the reasons Trump wants to send troops into cities is bc he wants to be able to take control of the 2026 elections...if they've got troops in cities, & it becomes a kind of norm for people, then it won't be abnormal for them when they're going to vote having troops at ballot boxes"

Is it really such an untenable idea that social media could or even SHOULD be public goods?! Like is it just gonna always remain the case that to be on the internet is to subject oneself to ever more horrors under the guise of “terms of service,” “moderation,” and “compliance.”

You simply MUST be joking. You built something that only had the appeal of not being Twitter and has a learning curve for new users. Now you adopt TOS changes only in response to a fascist’s death and retroactively apply them piecemeal?

Now tell the joke thats actually funny
Violence is always unacceptable, and threats of violence have no place in public discourse. Our thoughts are with Charlie Kirk and his family.

The thought occurs to me that anti trans activists are so hellbent on the idea that we have been “transed” or that we are transing youth because they themselves feel recognize on some level their genders were foisted upon them so they assume a trans gender must be as well 🤔

Submitted a commentary with @tsdav.bsky.social called “How To Lose A Culture War” so fingers crossed it’s well received. More to come from me/us on trans disinfo and the ongoing moral panic one way or another 🤓

Has anyone written something that links FOSTA/SESTA and the uptick in anti-trans legislation in the US?

Already in print please only because I’m on a deadline.

Terrifying how often someone in our very busy alley seems not to be breathing and we check on them. More terrifying is how nobody else in our or any other building ever checks.

At least i have some travel to look forward to in a few weeks.
