UC to Stop Funding Systemwide Postdoc Program
Established in 1984 to encourage women and minority Ph.D.s to pursue academia, the program has attracted right-wing criticism for prioritizing diverse candidates.

I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.

Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.

the massive scale of the No Kings protests, from the organizers’ perspectives, was ALWAYS about making it easy for people to people to go and meet organizers and organizations and mutual aid:

“Let this be a springboard, not the end of your journey.”

if you went, how are you doing so?

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

It's also a love letter to trans community, and the things we do with and for one another.

Here's a fun fact: most professors only get paid for 9 months of the year, and if you want to get paid for the rest, you have to get grants and fund it out of those yourself. So the functional ban on trans people getting grants is also functionally a huge pay cut for all trans academics! Fun!

It is absolutely ridiculous that Adrienne Villa's death has basically gone unreported in local & national media

An anti-ICE protester being held on $1.3 million bail found dead in a courtroom jail cell & crickets from media. Should make you question why they want this kept quiet!

It’s a common complaint to spend an afternoon reading papers in search of something that turns into half a sentence (that you delete next week) – I’d argue that the “foraging” benefits are real, only pay off if you’re engaging with the actual material, & worth the “inefficiency” to learn more.
