Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Nihao Country (a short comic about what a word can mean) 1/2 #comics
While travelling in Taiwan, I found it surprising that my heart did a little catch every time there was a "Nihao!" My personal history with this word, growing up a non-Chinese Asian kid in a very white American town, was based around ignorance. "But... I'm not.." I grew up with the expectation of "fighting back" which I also found stressful... This is my first time in a Chinese-speaking country, despite having this word follow me throughout my life.
